About the artists... |
Carol and Gerry are a husband and wife team who create stained glass and wire art that evokes a connection to the past by using reclaimed elements such as brick, stone and old pieces of barn board. They use non-traditional stained glass designs that spark joy, honour their surroundings and pay tribute to family members, both human and animal. Their "Shards of Time" story began with a lightning strike, both literally and figuratively. Their 150 year old farmhouse was struck by lightning in 2011 and was lost to the ensuing fire. Thankfully, no lives were lost and most precious items were saved. In the process of tearing down and rebuilding, they salvaged as much of the old brick as possible which later became a fundamental part of the new life they were about to start. Stained glass has always fascinated Carol and they took the lightning strike as a sign that if there was something they wanted to try they better get to it. Carol took a few soul restoring stained glass classes and a short time later Shards of Time was born. "This new path has been an inspiring, passionate, and sometimes overwhelming journey that we are so fortunate and grateful to be on." |
